NEWS RELEASE WELLINGTON COUNTY OPP
(CENTRE WELLINGTON TOWNSHIP, ON) – An individual has been charged following a sexual assault investigation in Centre Wellington.
On March 17, 2026, at approximately 12:45 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a sexual assault that occurred at an address within Centre Wellington the day prior.
As a result of the investigation, a 46-year-old from Fergus, is charged under the Criminal Code with:
- Sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age
- Sexual interference
- Sexual exploitation
The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on a later date.
The name of the accused is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
