GUELPH – A child has been arrested following two separate robbery investigations hours apart on the weekend.
Just before 8 pm, Friday, Guelph police were notified of an incident which had taken place at a north-end park an hour earlier.
Police say a 14-year-old boy reported being punched and threatened with bear spray before his sweater was stolen. The suspect and victim are known to each other.
At around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, police were called to a business near York Road and Ontario Street. Police say an employee reported he was sprayed in the face with bear spray by a youth who stole candy and fled.
The suspect was located and arrested a short distance away.
A 12-year-old Guelph boy is charged with two counts of robbery, possessing weapons for a dangerous purpose, and breaching a release order. He was held for a bail hearing Monday.
