WELLINGTON COUNTY- At today’s County Council Meeting, the recipients of the 2025 George Bridge Economic Development Influencer Awards were announced.
This Economic Development Awards programme was created to honour the contributions of Past Warden and Economic Development Committee Chair, George Bridge, to the field.
“The George Bridge Economic Development Influencer Awards recognize individuals who have made outstanding contributions to economic development in Wellington County, celebrating community leaders from diverse backgrounds and highlighting the wide range
of organizations and roles that support local economic development efforts,” said Jeff Duncan, Economic Development Chair for the County. “Congratulations to our deserving recipients.”
Community Economic Development Influencer of the Year Award
Awarded to an individual who has made a significant impact on Economic Development in Wellington County. Eligibility extends to all members of the public, including community members, the business community, and various organizations.
Recipient: Carl Gray, Founder, Trade Tracks Skilled Trades Showcase
A retired electrician, Carl, recognized a significant gap in support for young people exploring careers in the trades. In 2022, he took the initiative to bring together local tradespeople, employers, and educational institutions to tackle this issue, and created Trade Tracks. The annual two-day skilled trades showcase connects youth and job seekers with employers, apprenticeship programmes, and hands-on exposure to careers in the trades.
Rising Economic Development Influencer of the Year Award
Awarded to an individual new to the economic development profession, actively working in an economic development capacity within Wellington County.
Recipient: Marina Mato, Economic Development Officer, Town of Erin
With fewer than five years in the field, Marina quickly established herself as a trusted partner for local businesses. As the Economic Development Officer for the Town of Erin, she actively supports the business community through Town programmes and creative marketing initiatives, such as the award-winning Discover Erin Reels Campaign.
