MEDIA RELEASE CRIME STOPPERS GUELPH WELLINGTON
At approximately 4:00am on Monday March 30th 2026, a telecommunication wire theft occurred, along Highway 7 between Wellington Road 44 and Alma Street in the Township of Guelph/Eramosa.
Stolen was about 100 metres of copper cable, with an estimated value of $5,000-$10,000. Some sections were left behind and concealed in the bushes.
This type of crime can have serious public safety consequences. These lines support critical services like 911 emergency access, medical alert systems and internet and phone connectivity. When compromised, it disrupts daily life and puts lives at risk.
