FERGUS – Reconstruction work is now underway on Colborne Street in Fergus, and the road is closed to traffic until the end of October.
The Township of Centre Wellington says the reconstruction is taking place on Colborne Street in Fergus from Beatty Line to approximately 95 metres west of Frederick Campbell Street and 120 metres west of the western limit of the Storybrook Subdivisions.
The project involves realigning a portion of Colborne Street through an internal section of Phase 3A of the Storybrook Subdivision.
The reconstruction will convert the existing rural road cross-section to an urban cross-section, including concrete sidewalks, curb and gutter, storm sewer infrastructure, and water main installation.
The project will also include the construction of a multi-use path, installation of street trees, and new street lighting throughout the project area.

“During construction, Colborne Street within the project limits will be closed to through traffic. Local access to properties will generally be maintained; however, short-term restrictions may occur periodically as construction progresses. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times,” the townships’ ConnectCW website said.
