FERGUS – In local PJHL playoff hockey action, the Fergus Whalers took to the road last night for Game 3 of their best-of-seven Northern Conference series with the Stayner Siskins.
The Whalers were looking to take a stranglehold in the series, already leading two games to none.
Fergus took an early 4-goal lead, but Stayner battled back within one, but the Whalers hung on for a 5 to 3 victory.
Rookie Gavin Lavery led the Whaler attack with a goal and an assist, with Cohen Robitaille adding a goal that proved to be the game-winner.
Fergus looks to close out the series this Sunday at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex.
Puck drop is 3:30 pm.
