NEWS RELEASE WELLINGTON COUNTY OPP
(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TOWNSHIP, ON) – An individual has been charged after providing false identification to police.
On April 16, 2026, at approximately 12:30 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the report of a suspicious person at a business on Wellington Road 124 in Guelph-Eramosa Township. Upon police arrival, the individual was located and provided false identification to police.
As a result of the investigation, a 27-year-old from Guelph, is charged under the Criminal Code with:
- Personation with intent (identity fraud)
- Obstruct peace officer
- Failure to comply with Release Order (two counts)
The accused was held in police custody pending a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph.
