CENTRE WELLINGTON – The Township of Centre Wellington is reminding residents that April and May mark the peak of turtle nesting and mating season, and more turtles may be seen crossing roads throughout the community.
The Township is asking drivers to use extra caution, particularly in areas near wetlands, rivers, and rural roads.
Motorists are encouraged to slow down and stay alert for turtle crossings, especially during warm mornings and evenings when activity is highest.
Officials say even small actions, such as reducing speed and staying watchful, can make a meaningful difference in protecting these important members of the local ecosystem.
