CENTRE WELLINGTON – Getting between Fergus and Elora this summer will once again be a little easier.
Centre Wellington council approved funding for the seasonal Downtown Elora Fergus shuttle bus program, which runs during the busy tourism months to help cut down on parking issues and connect visitors to local shops and destinations.
Kristen Bettiol, Manager of Community Development, says the shuttle is scheduled to operate from May 15th through September 7th, running Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and on statutory holidays.
In 2025, the shuttle recorded 2,430 total riders, including approximately 673 local residents, representing about 28% of ridership.
The approved funding model was reliant on securing $20,000 through sponsorship.
Thanks to sponsors, the Township’s contribution to the program will be $16,500 of the total $64,500 cost.
Additional Township funds may be required to fund minor costs associated with the shuttle, such as fuel.
