NEWS RELEASE COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTRE OF NORTH AND CENTRE WELLINGTON
Mapleton, ON – The Community Resource Centre of North and Centre Wellington (CRCNCW) is proud to announce a significant expansion of its childcare services with the successful award of a new childcare centre in Drayton, Ontario through the Wellington Catholic District School Board and located at St. Martin of Tour’s Catholic School. This milestone reflects the CRCNCW’s ongoing commitment to supporting families and strengthening communities across the region.
The Childcare Centre will create 64 new licensed childcare spaces, including 10 infant spaces, 30 toddler spaces, and 24 preschool spaces, helping to address the growing demand for accessible, high-quality care in the community. The Centre is currently planned to open on December 1, 2026, bringing much-needed support to families in Drayton and the surrounding area. The site will be a CWELCC-funded location, supporting increased affordability for families through the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care system.
Families can join the waitlist immediately through the Wellington-Guelph Centralized Waitlist (OneHSN) by visiting: https://onehsn.com/countyofwellington/ux_2_0
Registration on the waitlist does not guarantee a space, but ensures families are considered as spaces become available.
“This is an exciting and important step forward for our organization and the families we serve,” said Alyssandra Kent, Executive Director of CRCNCW. “We know that access to quality childcare is essential for healthy communities and strong local economies. This expansion allows us to better meet the needs of families in Drayton and the surrounding area.”
Once operational, the Centre will provide a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where children can learn, play, and thrive, while supporting parents and caregivers in balancing work and family life. The Centre will offer developmentally appropriate, play-based programming aligned with provincial standards, delivered by qualified and caring early childhood educators.
This project is made possible through a continued partnership with the Wellington Catholic District School Board, where CRCNCW operates before and after school programming across Centre Wellington. CRCNCW will also work closely with additional community partners, local stakeholders, and families throughout the development and implementation phases to ensure the Centre reflects the unique needs of the Drayton community.
This expansion builds on CRCNCW’s strong track record of delivering responsive, inclusive, and community-driven services across North and Centre Wellington. It also supports broader efforts to expand the reach of all CRCNCW services, including EarlyON Child and Family Centres and Community Outreach programs.
More details, including enrollment information and staffing opportunities, will be shared as the project progresses.
