NEWS RELEASE WELLINGTON COUNTY OPP
(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) – An Erin resident is facing five charges stemming from an intimate partner violence investigation.
On May 8, 2026, at approximately 2:15 p.m., a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of historic altercations that occurred at an address within the Town of Erin on various dates throughout 2025 and 2026.
As a result of the investigation, police arrested a 38-year-old from Erin, on May 12, 2026. The accused is charged under the Criminal Code with:
- Assault cause bodily harm – spousal (three counts)
- Assault – spousal
- Mischief under $5,000
The accused was held in police custody pending a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph.
The victim sustained minor injuries.
The OPP will not release names to protect the identity of the victim(s).
