NEWS RELEASE WELLINGTON COUNTY OPP
(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) – An Acton resident is facing extortion charges following an intimate partner violence (IPV) investigation.
On May 12, 2026, at approximately 2:15 p.m., a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the report of an IPV complaint that took place at an address within the Town of Erin
As a result of the investigation, a 41-year-old from Acton, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:
- Extortion
- Criminal harassment – repeatedly communicate with, watch and beset, threatening conduct
- Harassing communications
The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph at a later date.
The OPP will not release names to protect the identity of the victim(s).
