The Canadian Alliance for Net-Zero Agri-food (CANZA) is continuing their mission of reducing farmer’s emissions with the launch of their latest online resources; the Marketplace and Knowledge Hub.
The goal of these new web pages is to aggregate information about funding opportunities for farmers to invest into sustainable practices and technologies and to present them in a digestable manner.
CANZA’s interim executive director, Ashley Honsberger, said the marketplace will be a valuable resource for farmers as the industry adopts a more scientific approach to research.
“Canadian farmers are under growing pressure to adopt climate-smart practices, but many say the funding and support programs available to help them are fragmented, difficult to navigate, and disconnected from the real environmental value they create on-farm,” CANZA said in a press release.
Honsberger said it’s important to properly outline how funding works in regards to these opportunities presented in the marketplace.
The marketplace is currently in its first phase; Honsberger said it is platform that will be constantly evolving and improving.
CANZA wants to provide this level of access wherever they can in Canada.
Honsberger also wants to see more partnerships with corporations down the road to provide the appropriate funding for the work being done by farmers.
In an age where scientific studies are more common place, she said promoting sustainable agriculture in an accessible format is a benefit for all.
The marketplace and knowledge hub are live on CANZA’s website.
