TOWN OF ERIN – A driver is charged with several offences following a traffic stop in Erin.
On May 27, 2026, at approximately 5:30 p.m., a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting traffic patrol on Tenth Line within the Town of Erin when the cruiser’s Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) notified the officer of a vehicle that was potentially being operated with expired insurance. A traffic stop was initiated.
As a result of the investigation, a 51-year-old from Orangeville, is charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:
- Owner operate a motor vehicle without insurance
- Fail to notify change of address
- Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Provincial Offences Court in Guelph on September 2, 2026.
