NEWS RELEASE WELLINGTON COUNTY OPP
(MAPLETON TOWNSHIP, ON) – A Palmerston driver has been charged following a traffic stop in Mapleton.
On June 17, 2026, at approximately 12:15 a.m., a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting proactive traffic enforcement on Wellington Road 8 in Mapleton Township when they observed a vehicle travelling almost double the posted speed limit.
As a result of the investigation, a 19-year-old from Palmerston, has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:
· Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt
· Speeding 50+ km/h over posted limit
A 14-day vehicle impoundment and a 30-day driver’s licence suspension as per statute.
The accused is scheduled to appear in the provincial offences court – Guelph, at a later date.
