On Monday June 22, at 7 p.m., the Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) will be joined by the Township of Amaranth and Dufferin County to host a public information session which will present the GRCA’s Flood Damage Assessment Study.
The information session will be held at the Grand Valley and District Community Centre, located on Main Street in Grand Valley.
The study began in 2022 and was partly funded by the federal National Disaster Mitigation Program; the study includes flooding assessments about the communities of Grand Valley, Waldemar and Drayton.
According to the press release the “objectives of the study were to estimate average annual flood damages in the three communities and to update flood hazard mapping through the Village of Drayton.”
However, the press release also said “information regarding the study results for Drayton will not be covered.”
There will also be general information presented about emergency preparedness and riverine flooding.
The presentation does not require registration and will be followed by an open house where attendees can discuss with GRCA and municipal staff and ask questions.
