According to a press release, Wellington County and Guelph have been officially recognized by the Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness (CAEH) and Built for Zero Canada for achieving three milestones to strengthen the ability to prevent and reduce homelessness.
The first milestone is being the 22nd community nation-wide to confirm by-name data version 4.0 for all homelessness.
By-name data is a dataset including information about the local homeless population; the data points cover how many people are experiencing homelessness, how many have entered homelessness or found housing and who these individuals are.
Second, Wellington-Guelph is the 5th community in Canada to achieve by-name data version 4.0 for unsheltered individuals.
Finally, Wellington-Guelph is the 8th community in the country to achieve Coordinated Access Foundations 4.0, which is the framework used to address homelessness in the area such as the County’s Homelessness Prevention Initiatives.
All 4.0 versions are up-to-date and based on the most recent, rigorous data standard set by CAEH and Built for Zero Canada.
Dave Purdy, director of housing services, said continuing to provide updated data is vital in addressing homelessness in Wellington County.
“Having high-quality data and a coordinated system allows us to connect people with the supports they need, and work toward reducing homelessness.”
