Press Release: Wellington County OPP, June 22, 2026.
WELLINGTON COUNTY – Two individuals were arrested for impaired driving in Wellington County over the weekend.
On June 20, 2026, at approximately 5:00 a.m., a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting proactive traffic enforcement on Highway 6 between Fourth Line and Second Line in Centre Wellington Township, when they observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. A traffic stop was conducted.
As a result of the investigation, a 31-year-old man from Fergus, is charged under the Criminal Code and the Highway Traffic Act with:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Speeding 1-49 km/h over posted limit
- Driver fail to surrender licence
The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on July 31, 2026.
A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a 7-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
Additionally, on June 21, 2026, at approximately 7:30 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the report of a collision in a parking lot on Main Street South in Mount Forest.
As a result of the investigation, a 40-year-old man from Ayton, is charged under the Criminal Code with:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on July 28, 2026.
A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a 7-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
