ERIN – The Town of Erin says approximately 1,100 Hydro One customers remain without electricity following a severe storm that moved through the area.
In a social media update, the Town said Hydro One crews are actively working to restore power to affected homes. Residents can monitor the latest outage information and estimated restoration times through Hydro One’s online outage map.
To support residents during the outage, the Town has opened several emergency resources.
Those in need of water, including water for livestock and other animals, can visit Station 50, located at 2 Station St. in Hillsburgh. Residents are asked to bring a tank or other suitable container to have it filled at the fire station.
A cooling centre has also been established at Centre 2000 inside the Erin Community Centre, located at 14 Boland Dr. in Erin, providing a place for residents to escape the extreme heat while power is restored.
The Town also noted that the County of Wellington has opened a cooling centre at the Erin Public Library.
The Town is encouraging everyone to stay hydrated and check in on neighbours, family members, and others who may be vulnerable during the ongoing heat and power outage.
The Town of Erin says it will continue providing updates as more information becomes available.
