ELORA – At around 9 a.m. on July 10, Centre Wellington Fire Rescue (CWFR) received a call for a house fire, located on the corner of Colborne Street and Wilson Crescent in Elora.
Chief Jason Benn said crews were quickly on the scene.
A nearby Wilson resident was in his basement when he heard loud pops and bangs; upon entering the street, he saw the home’s garage completely engulfed in flames.
Wellington County OPP said three people were evacuated to hospital as a precaution due to smoke inhalation.
At this point, the fire was extinguished, and an investigation is currently underway.
Colborne Street is closed between Cuthbert Street and Wilson Crescent as emergency services are on the scene.
OPP and CWFR ask local traffic to take alternate routes.
