NEWS RELEASE WELLINGTON COUNTY OPP
(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) – An Erin resident is facing charges following an intimate partner violence investigation.
On July 13, 2026, at approximately 10:45 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the report of disturbance at an address in Erin.
As a result of the investigation, a 45-year-old from Erin, is charged under the Criminal Code with:
- Assault cause bodily harm – choke, suffocate or strangle
- Assault
- Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm
- Mischief – destroys or damages property
The accused was held in police custody pending a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph.
The victim did not sustain any reported injuries.
The OPP will not release names to protect the identity of the victim(s).
