NEWS RELEASE WELLINGTON COUNTY OPP
(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) – Local resident is facing five criminal charges stemming from an Intimate partner violence investigation.
On July 26, 2026, at approximately 10:45 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a report of a disturbance at an address within the Town of Erin, with the accused fleeing from the scene prior to police attending the area.
On July 27, 2026, at approximately 10:00 p.m., as a result of the investigation, a 30-year-old from the Town of Erin is charged under the Criminal Code with the following:
- Assault with a weapon – Spousal
- Assault causing bodily harm – Spousal
- Failure to comply with release order (three counts)
The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph at a later date.
The OPP will not release names to protect the identity of the victim(s).
