WELLINGTON COUNTY: On Aug. 18, 2026, Wellington County launched a new digital platform to display regional location information such as points of interest and zoning borders.
The new Explore Wellington digital mapping tool was built on Esri’s “geospatial” Arc Geographic Information System (GIS); geospatial data is information about where things are located on Earth and it includes maps, images and coordinates to provide details about the local landscape and its features.
“The new system will give residents, businesses and municipal partners a faster, more intuitive way to explore geographic information across Wellington County,” the County said in a press release.
They said this new platform improves performance and accessibility over their previous GIS.
Being a public resource Wellington County said there are uses for both municipal staff and residents of the area.
The map can show zoning by-law areas, county roads and provincial highways, library locations, parks, museums, trails and various boundaries.
With municipal elections coming up residents can use the map to view each municipal ward as well as county jurisdictions.
Residents can also draw on the map and add their own data for personal use.
