CENTRE WELLINGTON: The Township has announced they are parting ways from its current parking enforcement provider and will be introducing a renewed paid parking program with an in-house parking enforcement service.
“We recognize the frustration that residents, businesses, and visitors have experienced as a result of the lack of paid parking and consistent enforcement during this busy tourism season,” the Township said in a press release.
On June 11 this year, Centre Wellington said they suspended all paid parking enforcement due to a “technical issue,” with the system, though local residents were reporting the QR-code on the parking enforcement signs would redirect them to websites containing spam, including porn.
Despite the reported issues the Township said the integrity of their internal networks was not compromised.
They also said any future developments relating to paid parking will be brought to Council for consideration.
“Moving from an external service to a Township-delivered model requires careful preparation, including establishing procedures, staffing, training, and equipment,” the press release said.
