WELLINGTON COUNTY: According to Wellington County OPP four individuals have been charged with impaired driving in the County, and all four received vehicle impoundments and licence suspensions.
Three offenders were charged in the same day, with the fourth being involved in a three-vehicle collision.
The first was in the waking hours of August 29; Police said they received a complaint at around 2:00 a.m. of a possible impaired driver on John Street in Mount Forest.
The vehicle was promptly located and a traffic stop was conducted.
As a result of their investigation, OPP have charged a 36-year-old from Belwood with:
- Operation while impaired – drugs and alcohol
- Possession of a schedule I substance – cocaine
The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on November 17, 2026.
On the same day at around 2:30 p.m., Wellington County OPP said they were patrolling Wellington Road 124 in Erin when their automated plate tracker flagged a vehicle potentially being operated by a suspended driver.
As a result of the OPP’s traffic stop and investigation, a 31-year-old from Erin was charged with:
- Operation while impaired – drugs and alcohol
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code
- Fail to surrender insurance card
- Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle
The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on Oct. 9, 2026.
Later on August 29, this time around 4:00 p.m., police said OPP officers responded to the report of a single-vehicle collision into a ditch on Highway 6 in Puslinch.
Police said one individual was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
As a result of their investigation a 30-year-old from Guelph is charged with:
- Operation while impaired – drugs and alcohol
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on Oct. 6, 2026.
The following day, August 30 at around 12:15 a.m., OPP said they responded to the report of a three-vehicle collision on Highway 89, outside of Conn in Southgate Township.
Police said their investigation revealed one mobile vehicle collided with two vehicles that were parked on the shoulder of the roadway, causing one of the parked vehicles to subsequently strike two pedestrians.
The two pedestrians were transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said a 20-year-old from Arthur is charged with:
- Operation causing bodily harm
- Dangerous operation causing bodily harm
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on Oct. 9, 2026.
All drivers received a 90-day driver’s licence suspension, along with a seven-day vehicle impoundment, except for the Erin driver who’s vehicle was impounded for 45 days.
