WELLINGTON NORTH – A Southgate Township resident is facing impaired driving and other charges following a RIDE stop in Mount Forest.
Wellington County OPP were conducting a Reduced Impaired Driving Everywhere, or RIDE, program on Sligo Road East on Saturday, when officers stopped a vehicle to check the driver’s sobriety.
Police say the investigation led to charges against a 39-year-old Southgate resident being charged with operating a vehicle while impaired by alcohol and drugs, driving a vehicle with cannabis readily available, and possession of unmarked cigarettes.
The driver was handed a 90-day administrative driver’s licence suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days, and is scheduled to appear in a Guelph court in November.
