WELLINGTON COUNTY – Wellington County is getting ready to show off its farms, food, and rural communities as the annual Fall Rural Romp returns later this month.
The free, self-guided event takes place Saturday, September 26th, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with 23 farms and food destinations taking part across southern Wellington County and Guelph.
Now in its 21st year, the Rural Romp gives visitors a chance to get out into the community and see where local food comes from. Participants can tour working farms, meet local producers, sample products and check out a variety of markets and rural businesses.
There will be plenty to see and do, including apple orchards, flower farms, farm animals and alpacas, along with corn mazes, wagon rides, nature trails and activities for kids.
Visitors can also stop in for seasonal food and drink tastings, shop for locally made products, or learn more about things like regenerative agriculture and food forests.
Participating locations are spread throughout Centre Wellington, Erin, Guelph/Eramosa, Puslinch, and the City of Guelph.
Admission to the Rural Romp is free, although some individual locations may charge for certain activities.
