CENTRE WELLINGTON – Monster Month is returning to Elora and Centre Wellington this October, bringing a month-long lineup of Halloween-themed events, arts, entertainment and family activities to the community.
The annual celebration invites visitors from across Southern Ontario to experience Tim Murton’s Twilight Zoo, along with ghost walks, lantern tours, haunted houses, murder mystery dinners, guided tours and other spooky activities.
More than 20 community partners are taking part, with dozens of events planned throughout October.
Some of the featured events include:
- The Awakening – October 2: Monster Month officially begins with The Awakening at the yard at the Elora Centre for the Arts. As twilight falls, expect mist, music, light, dance, dramedy—and the dramatic release of the Spirit of Monster Month itself! Led by a droll emcee with otherworldly eyes, it promises a theatrical spectacle of monstrous proportions. Guests are encouraged to dress spooky, silly, or spectacular to embrace the funereal celebration.Pay what you can or free. All donations go to the Centre Wellington Food Bank
- Pumpkin Day – October 10: Celebrate autumn’s most beloved symbol at Pumpkin Day at the Wellington County Museum & Archives. This free family event features seasonal activities and entertainment for children of all ages. Visitors are encouraged to bring cash or food donations to support the Centre Wellington Food Bank.
- Monster March – October 17: Grab your costumes (and your pets!), decorate your wagon and join the community for the Monster March parade. Beginning at Moir Street and Geddes at 6:30 pm (assembly at 6:00), this free event is open to all ages. Wicked Wagon and Costume Contests – Decorate your wagon or stroller in spooky style to win one of three top prizes. Food Drive – Volunteers from The Sparrow’s Nest will collect donations along the route to benefit the Centre Wellington Food Bank. The march ends with a festive “Mini-Mash” in Bissell Park for participants. Rain or moonshine, the monsters will march!
Other events throughout the month will include monster and ghost tours, candlelight shopping, Skareoke, dances, activities for children, murder mystery dinners, and Halloween-themed food and drinks at local businesses.
Organizers say there will be something for everyone, whether visitors are looking for family-friendly activities, spooky evenings, or community celebrations.
