GUELPH/ERAMOSA – A 17-year-old from Guelph has been criminally charged in connection with a fatal collision in Guelph-Eramosa Township last year.
Wellington County OPP responded to a single-vehicle collision on Eastview Road on October 30, 2025, at around 4 p.m., along with other emergency responders.
“As a result of the incident, an 18-year-old male was pronounced deceased at the scene, and a 16-year-old male was transported to a trauma centre in Hamilton with non-life-threatening injuries,” police said in a news release.
Nearly a year later, on September 24, 2026, Wellington County OPP arrested and charged a 17-year-old from Guelph with dangerous operation causing death under the Criminal Code.
Police say, “The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph, at a future date to speak to the charges”
The youth’s identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act and will not be released.
