GUELPH – Guelph Police are investigating after an employee at a business was sprayed in the face during a robbery early Wednesday morning.
Police say they received a 911 call from a customer around 6:10 a.m. at a business near York Road and Victoria Road South.
“The customer reported seeing a woman leaving and then going inside, where she found the clerk in pain. Officers arrived minutes later and could detect an odour of noxious spray inside the store,” police said in a news release.
The clerk told police a woman had attempted to purchase alcohol and other items, but was refused service because of the time of day.
Police say the woman then pulled an item from her pocket and sprayed the clerk in the face before fleeing with merchandise.
Investigators are asking anyone who recognizes the woman in the released photos, or who may have information about the robbery, to contact Guelph Police.
