CENTRE WELLINGTON – The Centre Wellington Community Foundation is inviting local seniors and community members to attend a free session focused on recognizing scams and protecting themselves from financial fraud.
Titled Give Yourself the Gift of Protection, the session takes place Friday, November 6th, at the Wellington County Museum and Archives in Aboyne.
Presented by Paul Van Nest, the session will cover common fraud tactics, including scams carried out in person, over the phone, and online.
Participants will also learn about emerging threats involving artificial intelligence and QR codes, as fraudsters continue to find new ways to target unsuspecting victims.
Jean Prichard, Chair of the Centre Wellington Community Foundation, says the session is an opportunity for residents to gain practical knowledge to protect themselves and their loved ones.
“A stronger community is one where people feel informed, supported and secure,” she says.
The event is sponsored by the EFG Fund at the Centre Wellington Community Foundation, with support from the Rotary Club of Kingston Service Project.
The session runs from 10 until 11:30 Friday morning, with welcome and refreshments during the first half-hour, followed by the presentation and a question-and-answer period.
The event is free to attend. RSVPs are appreciated but not required.
