GUELPH – A man was taken to hospital following an assault at a downtown Guelph business late Thursday night.
Emergency crews were called to a business near Wyndham Street North and Macdonell Street just before midnight after a fight broke out involving several men.
Guelph Police say during the altercation, one man was knocked unconscious after having his head slammed against a counter.
“While the victim was lying on the floor, he was punched several times in the face and head and stomped on repeatedly. He was transported to hospital for treatment,” police said in a news release.
A 19-year-old Guelph man has since been charged with assault causing bodily harm. He is scheduled to appear in court on February 2.
