It didn’t take long yesterday for Guelph police to recover a stolen vehicle. That’s because officers located the vehicle just a few blocks from where it was taken, making an arrest less than two hours after it was reported stolen.
At approximately 2 p.m., a resident reported his vehicle missing from his driveway in the area of Dufferin Street and John Street. Approximately 3:40 p.m. officers spotted it parked a few blocks away near Dufferin Street and Mac Avenue.
While officers were watching the vehicle, a male approached on foot and was placed under arrest. The keys to the vehicle were in his possession.
While speaking to police the male attempted to discard two small packages from his pants pocket. These packages were recovered and found to contain a small amount of fentanyl.
A 55-year-old Guelph male is charged with possessing stolen property over $5,000 and possessing a controlled substance.
He will appear in court in May.
