On Sunday, April 12, head over to downtown Fergus in the afternoon (roughly 1 – 4:30) to hear & see the pipes and drums of the Fergus Pipe Band and the Grand Celtic Pipe Band. Members of these bands
are observing Canada’s National Tartan Day with scattered performances along St. Andrew Street.
Tartan Day in Fergus is usually observed on the 1st Sunday in April, but as April 5th is Easter Sunday, the bands are taking to the sidewalks the week following.
In addition to performing on the street, the bands have been invited by some local establishments to come into or onto the patios of their places of business to treat their customers to ‘up-close’ renditions of
some of each band’s favourite tunes.
After each set, each band will rest a bit with those customers and then move on down (or up) the street to play some more. Thanks to the Fergus Legion (12:30 & 4:00), the Breadalbane Inn (1:15 & 4:30), the Outpost (2:00 & 3:15), the Brewhouse (1:45 & 3:15), and the Goofie Newfie (1:00 & 4:15).
If you’d like to see & hear the bands play together, look for them around the Fergus Grand Theatre at approximately 2:45.
