Centre Wellington – The Township of Centre Wellington is looking to resume parking enforcement and has partnered with a Calgary-based municipal technology provider.
“In the coming weeks, staff will begin implementing updated enforcement processes as part of a strengthened, Township-led by-law enforcement program,” the Township said in a press release.
Centre Wellington is partnering with MRF Geosystems; MRF will provide the technology and Township staff will provide parking and by-law enforcement.
MRF brings the support systems that include electronic ticketing and parking administration, but the corporation also has experience with electronic ticketing, Administrative Monetary Penalty System (AMPS) processes and mobile field operations.
Centre Wellington said staff will begin training, implementing the updated procedures and systems, introduce electronic ticketing and complete the implementation of AMPS processes.
“Paid parking, including the resident paid parking exemption program, remains paused while the Township considers next steps for a future paid-parking program,” they said, “Any proposal to reintroduce paid parking will be brought forward to Council for consideration.”
Back in July the Township suspended paid parking due to an “issue” with the service provider at the time.
However, posted parking restrictions still remain in-effect.
“This includes three-hour parking limits where signs indicate a three-hour maximum, as well as other applicable regulations, including accessible parking spaces, fire routes, school-zone restrictions, and seasonal overnight parking rules.”
