ERIN – The Erin Chamber of Commerce will be making a delegation at Erin Council tomorrow in hopes of continuing to support local businesses during wastewater construction.
In March, council approved $41,000 from the economic development reserve account to assist these businesses during a difficult time.
The delegation letter to council, states businesses in Hillsburgh and Erin have been affected negatively by construction and expect further losses.
The chamber says so far, none of the money has been spent, and it is being requested the $41,000 be released to the Erin Chamber of Commerce.
Erin Chamber of Commerce also states they have been doing work making t-shirts, a new website and more, to drive foot traffic to the downtown cores.
They remind council all of this comes at a cost.
The chamber is also requesting another $40,000 be allocated in Erin’s 2024 budget to further support local businesses.
The meeting in Erin begins at 3 p.m. on Thursday.
